If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know I’ve been in the US for a nearly month-long holiday leading up to QuiltCon in Savannah, Georgia. Outrageously large unicorn tote in tow, I headed down from North Carolina with Swampy to see some quilts and friends! I don’t want to have a really long post (though I didn’t take many photos at all!) so I’m splitting this up into a post for the exhibition and a post for friends and the class I took.
The first day, Thursday, we leisurely explored the exhibit hall to see all the quilts. I only took pictures of a couple because I guess I’m very particular? I enjoyed many of the award winning quilts (there is certainly no doubt Bling was the Best in Show), but there’s plenty of photos of those floating around so I’ve chosen not to include them here. (P.S. I used a new camera to take these pictures so if they look especially bad it’s because I don’t know what I’m doing with it yet!) (more…)
Here are some photos from New Quilts for Alberton Beds, which closed on Sunday. There were many more quilts there but it was very challenging to take photos in the historic house as it is quite dark! See more (remarkably better) photos on Monday Modern’s Flickr page.
The quilting group I’m a member of, Monday Modern, is exhibiting quilts made by members at Alberton, a historic house in Mt. Albert here in Auckland. On September 26th and 27th, we will have some activities set up for children and adults to enjoy from 2 to 4 p.m. I will be there on Sunday the 27th if you want to say “hi!”

It’s that time again– First Friday, December 6th at LemonDrop’s new-ish location, 407 N. Boonville Avenue in Springfield, Missouri from 6 to 10pm. Stop by early to see all the post-its before they find homes!
LemonDrop is having another Post-It Show for December’s First Friday, December 7th. It starts at 6 and continues until 9, but be there early if you want to see all the post-its before the purchasing begins at 7:30. Post-It artworks by a variety of local and formerly-local artists (like me!) will be available to purchase for $1 each. This show is a great way to start your art collection without breaking the bank, and with the holidays around the corner, remember art is always a great gift! Proceeds benefit the artists and LemonDrop.
This event is taking place at 416 Commercial Street in Springfield, Missouri. Here’s the event page on the ol’ Facebook. If you can’t make it to the show, but are interested in purchasing some art in time for the holidays, be sure to check out my shop. Use coupon code CANTGO2SHOW for 10% off your order from now until December 10th!
